Local & County Fiscal ResponsibilityLocal governments often have unqualified, but well meaning, people running their departments. This results in millions of dollars in wasted resources of taxpayer's money. Larger counties and municipalities should be required to hire an outside CPA trained in government auditing and fiscal control to hold the office of Controller. They will develop proven "best practices" systems to reduce waste and audit departments to make sure systems are being followed. Our largest cities and counties should have an Inspector General to investigate and prosecute public corruption.

State Fiscal ResponsibilityThe practice of awarding expensive no-bid contracts to businesses greatly increases the cost to the state government. Especially when awarded to businesses owned by large campaign contributors. A no-bid contract should only happen in an emergency situation where the person requesting the no-bid contract makes a public announcement for a hearing, that is open to the public and scheduled with at least a 96 hour notice, of why we need a no-bid contract. Poor planning is not a valid reason.
